Holy Thursday: Exodus 12:1-8, 11-14; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; John 13:1-5

‘When I see the blood, I will pass over you" (Exodus 12:13).
Beyond the Passover, there is Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins (John 1:29; 1 John1:7).
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
 * What do we mean when we say, "Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"?
"Christ, our Passover Lamb has been sacrificed" (1 Corinthians 5:7).
To understand this description of Christ - "our Passover Lamb", we need to go back to Exodus 12.
  -  A lamb was to be taken for each household (Exodus 12:3).
  - The lamb was to be "without blemish" (Exodus 12:5).
  - The lamb was to be killed (Exodus 12:6).
  - The blood was to be put on the doorposts of the house (Exodus 12:7).
  - "When I see the blood, I will pass over you" (Exodus 12:13).
Jesus Christ is "the lamb without blemish" (1 Peter 1:19). He is "the Lamb, who was slain" (Revelation 5:12). He is "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
The Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
In our celebration of the Lord's Supper, our primary focus is on what Jesus Christ, our Saviour, has done for us. This is the "there and then" part of the Lord's Supper. We remember His death for us. We think of Him. We give thanks to Him.
There is also a secondary focus of attention. It's the "here and now" part of the Lord's Supper: our response to Him. We are not only remembering the story of what happened a long time ago. As well as remembering Him - what He did for us there and then, we are responding to Him here and now.
May God bless each of us in both our remembering Him and our responding to Him.
"Jesus loved them to the end" (John 13:1).
Jesus' love is endless love. It's everlasting love. It's love without limit. He never stops loving us. He keeps on loving us - to the end.
